Each of AgrowKnowledge's 4 resource teams will be sponsoring an image that best exmplifies their indiviual team. The four selected photos will each be awarded an extra $100 for their photo and included in the calendar. The resource teams are as followed:

Starting on May 1st AgrowKnowledge will start its 2nd Annual Photo Contest. The purpose of this photo contest is to select 12 photos that will be featured in our 2009 AgrowKnowledge calendar. The photos will also provide educators and students with a wide range of photography free of charge that otherwise may not be readily available for use. These images will be available through the AgrowKnowledge website (free registration required to access images) and allow photographers to showcase their work. The topic for the photo contest is “The Future of Agriculture ” Participants can to submit up to ten photos illustrating what they think best represents “The Future of Agriculture."

The top 12 photos will be selected to appear in the AgrowKnowledge 2009 calendar. Credit will be given to you as well as your school and their web site. The top 12 photo winners will also receive a cash prize of $50 (fifty) dollars. Honorable mention photos will appear on the calendar as smaller images with credit given.

No purchase or entrance fee is required, but you must be a member of the AgrowKnowledge website (registration is free) to submit photographs. Contestants are allowed to submit up to 10 (ten) photos, but may only have 1 (one) photo chosen for any of the top 12 photos. This photo contest is open to all faculty, staff and students of secondary and post-secondary schools. All photos must be received by October 15th to be eligible to win.

Submitting Photos:

To submit photos for the 2008 AgrowKnowledge Photo contest, photos must be uploaded to the AgrowKnowledge Website. You must be a registered member of AgrowKnowledge to submit photos (registration is free). To submit a photo use the link below:

Photo Requirements:

  • Your photo(s) must be in color. No black and white photos will be accepted.
  • The photo(s) must be submitted in a jpg/jpeg or tif/tiff format only
  • The photo(s) must be in an original unaltered state (other than standard optimization, cropping, adjusting the color/contrast, etc.)
  • Photos must be at least:
    • 8.5 inches high by 11 inches wide at 300 dpi
    • 2250 pixels high by 3300 pixels wide at 300 dpi
    • This is the minimum size for the calendar page for printing so photos not meeting these two requirements will not be eligible for placement as a monthly featured winner.
  • The photo submitted is the original work, has never been copyrighted or if it is copyrighted the submitter is the sole copyright owner, and has not been previously published or pending publication.

By entering the contests, photographers are agreeing that their photos be displayed and licensed for use under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons 3.0 license, and grant AgrowKnowledge permission to use the photo(s) in future newsletters, brochures, advertisements, on the AgrowKnowledge website, or in any other media. Upon submitting your photo(s) to AgrowKnowledge, your photo(s) will be available for public viewing and critique.  AgrowKnowledge is building a resource of photos to provide free of charge for use by faculty, staff, students and others registered AgrowKnowledge users to share what the face of agriculture is becoming.

Personal Model Release Note

Photos in which there is a recognizable person, the photographer must provide a model release form signed by the person.  If the person is a minor, the photographer must provide a model release from the person's parent/guardian. Winning photos or photos chosen for honorable mention will be required to send in copies of their personal model release forms.

Photographer acknowledges that they have obtained written permission for any recognizable persons appearing in the photographs to grant AgrowKnowledge the right to publish their submission and distribute the photograph under the Creative Commons 3.0 license (Attribution – NonCommercial – ShareAlike). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/

Other Information

Winners chosen will be required to fill out and sign a release and information form and return it via fax or mail to AgrowKnowledge within 21 days of the end of the conference. All federal, state, and local income taxes, and any fees on prizes are the responsibility of the selected photographers. AgrowKnowledge reserve the right to terminate, modify, or suspend contest if, for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned because of circumstances or causes based upon AgrowKnowledge's sole judgement. The chances of winning depends on number of entries received.
