Vision 2020

What is VISION 2020?

The central mission of “VISION 2020” is to build a seamless educational system for the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources industry. This seamless system of education is being built in an effort to ease the transition of students from high school to college and on to a successful career. By creating a seamless education system, we help ensure that there is an adequate supply of ready and motivated people for the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources industry. Seamless education means that high schools, community colleges, universities, and industry are actively involved in coordinating their programs and courses so that each step in a student’s career builds upon the work of previous steps and prepares them for the next level.

How does this initiative define the word “Partnership?”

The word “partnership” in this initiative refers to the “teaming” of the community college, university, multiple high schools, and industry partners to accomplish common or shared goals. Each member of the team has a responsibility that is defined by the group as they meet and discuss their goals. Later in the process these responsibilities are written down in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and signed by representatives of each group. The MOU should be customized by the partners to fit local needs.
